How to Use This Train List
This is the full index of every train in our database — over nine thousand of them, from two-minute suburban EMUs to fifty-coach superfast expresses. The fastest way in depends on what you know. Have the five-digit number from a ticket? Type it in the search box and you will land on the train directly. Remember only part of the name — "Rajdhani", "Gomti", "Dehradun"? Type that and the list filters as you go. The A–Z strip above works for browsing when you are not sure what the train is called.
The type tag next to each name matters more than most travellers realise. Rajdhani and Shatabdi services are premium trains with fewer halts and included meals; Superfast and Express trains cover the same corridors at lower fares with more stops; Vande Bharat rakes are the newest chair-car services, faster than anything else on their routes; and passenger/EMU trains serve short-distance commuters. Fares, speeds and even the classes available change with the type — so when two trains leave within half an hour of each other, the type tag is often the quickest way to choose.
Every row also shows the running days — a train marked Mon, Wed, Fri does not run on the others, and a lot of confusion at booking time comes from missing this. Tap any train for its full stop-by-stop timetable, or hit the red Live button to see where it is right now. Schedules here reflect published timetables; for the current position of a running train, the live tracker is the tool you want.
