About IndTrain

IndTrain (indtrain.in) is a free, independent information service for Indian Railways travellers. Type a train number and watch its full journey unfold — every halt, the live position on the line, and how many minutes it is running late. Search two stations and get every direct train between them with timings, classes and fares. Check a PNR and know in seconds whether the waitlist has cleared. No login, no app install, no clutter — the answer, fast.

Why we built it

Anyone who has stood on an Indian platform at 11 pm waiting for a delayed train knows the problem: the information you need is scattered. One website shows the timetable, a different app shows live status, a third shows the platform, and none of them talk to each other. On a slow mobile connection, most of them barely load. We wanted one page that a passenger can open on the platform itself — light enough to load quickly, clear enough to read at a glance, and honest about what the data does and does not know.

Where our data comes from

Train schedules and fares come from publicly available Indian Railways timetable data. Live running status and PNR details are fetched in real time through licensed railway data APIs — the same kind of feed the railway's own enquiry channels use. When a train is running, what you see is its actual reported position and delay. When it is not running, we show the official timetable and say so plainly rather than guessing. We never present estimates as live data.

Our principles

  • Free and open. Every tool on this site is free. We support the service with unobtrusive advertising, not paywalls or accounts.
  • Honest data. Live means live; timetable means timetable. We label the difference instead of faking it.
  • Privacy by default. No sign-ups, no tracking of who you are. PNR lookups are transient — see our privacy policy.
  • Independent. We are not affiliated with Indian Railways, IRCTC or NTES, and we do not sell tickets. See our disclaimer.

What's next

We are steadily expanding coverage — more station-level detail, better route search, and smarter delay explanations written in plain language. If something on the site is wrong or missing, tell us via the contact page; corrections from travellers are the fastest way this service improves.

Train data on this site is indicative and provided for planning. Always confirm timings, availability and fares from official Indian Railways sources before travel.
